Mackays Marmalade

As winter settles in and the wind blows snow round the yard, it is time to dream of milder climates and especially of Seville, home of the famous bitter oranges we will soon see on grocery shelves.
Since 1797 when the first oranges found their way by chance to the shores of Scotland, Dundee has been the undisputed home of this popular breakfast treat. Today, Mackays is the last producer left in the region, still producing marmalade by hand, in small batches, in open boil copper pans, using whole fresh oranges.
